The unconformity between the Carboniferous and the Permian at Corrie shore. The grey rocks to the left (north) belong to the Middle Coal Measures of the Carboniferous, while the red rocks to the right (south) are dune-bedded sandstones belonging to the Brodick Beds series of the Permian. On Corrie shore, the Carboniferous rocks of Arran are readily accessible and the succession of rock types is clearly displayed. The junctions of the Carboniferous strata with the underlying Devonian and the overlying Permian can also be examined.
