The theme of this site is a large deeply-eroded volcanic vent of Lower Carboniferous age.
The features that can be examined include: faulted contacts between Lower Devonian lavas and Upper Devonian sediments; contacts between Upper Devonian sediments and Carboniferous Cementstone strata; bedded and unbedded pyroclastic rocks, cut by small intrusions of monchiquitic-basalt and analcime-basalt; Carboniferous Passage Group sediments and lavas; Palaeogene dykes.
