How to Join

Membership of the society is open to all who are interested in geology. The membership year runs from October until September. The membership categories and annual subscription rates (applicable from October 2014) are as follows:

Ordinary (full) membership: £25.00
Ordinary members receive the printed version of the Scottish Journal of Geology, which is published twice-yearly.

Associate membership: £12.50
Associate membership is available to the spouse/partner of an Ordinary member, to a member of Edinburgh Geological Society, or to anyone aged 60 or over. Associate members do not receive the Scottish Journal of Geology.

Junior membership: £6.25
Junior membership is available to anyone who is under 21, or who is a full-time undergraduate student, or who is a recent (within 4 years) graduate. Junior members do not normally receive the Scottish Journal of Geology, but can do so by paying an annual supplement of £6.25 in addition to the normal £6.25 subscription.

Membership is obtained by completing the appropriate application form (Ordinary/Associate or Junior (under 21)) and returning it by email to the society’s membership secretary. The membership secretary will reply with a membership number and the society bank details to allow you to pay the initial subscription online and, in the case of application for Ordinary/Associate membership, to set up a standing order for future subscriptions.

It would be financially advantageous to the society if new members who are taxpayers were to complete a Gift Aid form.and return it with the application form.
