Field days: Saturday 13th, Sunday 14th, Monday 15th September, 2014
We will look at the stratigraphy and structure(s) of the Appin, Argyll and Southern Highland Groups of the Dalradian Supergroup sequence, the Old Red Sandstone and the major basic and ultrabasic intrusions of the Northeast Grampian Highlands. We will be investigating folds, metamorphic rocks and metamorphic minerals such as kyanite, staurolite, sillimanite etc., and will see the effects of the Portsoy Lineament and the outcome of some interesting new research.
