The society is sorry to report the death of Dr Allan J Hall. Allan, who was a member of the society for almost 40 years and served as president from 1991 to 1994, died on 1 January 2021. He had been suffering from a Parkinson’s-like condition for some time and latterly was confined to a wheelchair. Despite his illness, Allan continued to attend lecture evenings right up until the last one in March 2020.
Allan’s funeral will take place at 12:45 on Tuesday 19 January. Because of the Covid-19 restrictions, only a small number of mourners will be allowed to attend the service. However, a live webcast of the service will take place and 3 days later a recording of the service will be made available to view for the following 28 days. Details of how to log into the webcast or watch the recording of the service will be circulated to members of the society.
