An Ayrshire coast geological trail of about 2-3 hours starts at the car park reached along the B7048 Portencross Road, a turning off the A78 at Seamill/West Kilbride.
The walk takes in sandstones and also volcanic rocks in the form of basalt and dolerite dykes, and gives views across to Arran.
Strathclyde Geoconservation Group has produced a leaflet describing the route along the shoreline. The leaflet can be downloaded here.
