This exhibition was inspired by Edinburgh-based Australian artist Jenna Corcoran’s residency on the “Testimony of the Rocks” voyage on the historic tall ship Leader in June 2015. The voyage, which went round round the the Inner Hebrides, was organised by The Scottish Geodiversity Forum, the Isle of Luing Community Trust and the Friends of Hugh Miller to mark the launch of the new Atlantic Islands Centre on Luing.
Mesmerised by the ancient land and the incredibly expressive geology, Jenna noticed a repetition in the textures and patterns of the rocks, the land, the sea and the maps. The exhibition presents works on paper that draw on the movement of the sea, the passage of time, and the impression of the geology so unique to the Scottish islands.
