The last evening meeting of the session consists of a series of short oral presentations by society members, followed by desktop presentations, nibbles and drinks.
The oral presentations will be as follows:
Jim MacDonald – Coastal dunes in North West Spain
Matthew Staitis – The “Blooms of Doom” (the effect of volcanic induced temperature and iron concentration increase on cyanobacterial growth, a possible analogue for the End Permian Mass Extinction)
Margaret Greene – Strathclyde Geoconservation activities
Bob Bower – What has sparked my interest in geology and what I have learned so far
Each talk, including questions, will last for a maximum of 15 minutes.
There will also be a desktop presentation by Gary Hoare.
Any display material, including laptop slideshows and posters, that members would like to bring to contribute to the desktop presentations will be very welcome.
Please note that this meeting will start shortly later than the normal starting time for lectures because it will be preceded by a special general meeting that has been called to consider a motion to confer honorary membership of the Society on Dr Ben Browne.
