Glenelg – Attadale Inlier residential trip

A 4-day excursion to study the Glenelg-Attadale Inlier, an enigmatic complex of ancient gneisses that enclose a beautiful garnet-pyroxene rock-type - eclogite - that formed at extreme pressure when this continental crust was subducted during continental collisions. This is the only example in the British Isles of well-preserved eclogite.
