This workshop will focus on the work of the NW Highlands Geopark, explore the historical development of ideas about thrusting and mountain building and give an overview of the modern understanding of the Moine Thrust Belt.

This public lecture, organised by the Edinburgh Geological Society and Dynamic Earth, gives the opportunity to hear first-hand about recent advances in our understanding of the Ice Age in Scotland.
The society's AGM will be held before the December lecture, and will start at 7:15 pm.

Dippy, the Natural History Museum’s iconic Diplodocus dinosaur skeleton, will visit Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum from 22 January - 6 May 2019. As part of the exhibition, there will be a "Societies' Day" on Saturday 16 February. The Geological Society of Glasgow and the Strathclyde Geoconservation Group will have stalls at this event.
