Scotland's first geoheritage festival will consist of guided walks, short courses, family events and talks taking place at venues across the country.
A Scottish Geodiversity Open Day – itself a first – will be held as part of the festival at Dynamic Earth on Saturday 14th October to launch "51 Best Places to see Scotland's Geology".
The festival programme, part of Scotland's Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology 2017, is exciting and varied: walks round Glasgow's Rouken Glen park and Fossil Grove, an exploration of Edinburgh's pavement palaeontology or a scramble into The Vat at Muir Of Dinnet NNR are just a few examples.
