A new edition of the Scottish Fossil Code was published in August 2023. Information about the new code was given in a previous news item.
The code provides essential information on the nature of Scotland’s fossil heritage and the need for its appropriate management and safeguard. It is aimed at everyone with an interest and involvement in the fossil heritage and outlines the roles and responsibilities of those that own and utilise palaeontological resources.
Comprehensive guidance to the code is now available on the NatureScot website. This provides an accessible summary of the contents of the code, and has individual sections with guidance for different parts of the geological community.
You can view the code on this website.
